Job PurposeAbout the role:The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing plans for the successful maintenance of all sports turf, surrounding grounds, sports surface renovation projects, overseeing assigned personnel, developing and managing budgets related to sports turf and grounds, purchasing, maintaining and managing inventory of sports turf and ground maintenance equipment and supplies, supervising the conversion and protection of sports fields during special events, restoring fields damaged by weather use or other conditions, managing and reviewing irrigation system performance and initiate changes when necessary to ensure that the daily management of all turf surfaces is followed to specific World Rugby and International Cricket Council (ICC) standardsWhat you will do:- Prepare and manage the day-to-day pitch management & maintenance of all sports pitches & cricket ovals including annual summer maintenance programme, comprising the ongoing improvements and maintenance of the internal road and pitch landscaping areas, the specific playing surfaces required to supply the stadium Cricket wickets to ICC standard and the turf surface to World Rugby international standard.- Establish and enforce operating procedures and standards to ensure effective implementation of specific turf management programmes to ensure all turf pitches are in fit condition to accommodate the stadiums sports events.- Working with the stadiums turf contractors/inhouse staff and ensure early identification of any turf problems and implement the correct remedial strategies, practices, and programmes to present all playing surfaces, to meet international standards at all times.- Management of construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of sports facilities, whether performed in-house or by outside contractors.- Inspect completed work to ensure conformance to specifications, standards, and contract requirements and continuously, monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.- Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, equipment & Machinery or materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available, and items are in usable condition. Work with P & L and involve in Negotiation with external vendors for the procurement of items based on requirement within budgetary margins.- Manage events and schedule sports activities throughout the facility and complete pre & post event reports with recommendations for improvements.- Liaise with sporting bodies and international customers with regards to their activity schedules to ensure maximum usage of the facility at all times.- Manage and develop direct reports in performing duties such as oversee assigned personnel, which includes assigning duties, work allocation, training, problem resolution, evaluating performance, and making recommendations for personnel actions.Qualifications & ExperienceThe job might be for you if you have:- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)- 8 years experience in the Sports Turf industry, preferably with experience in sports turf management at an international level.- Experience in the establishment and management of world class cricket pitches and playing and practice facilities, particularly in a major cricket stadium environment. Preferably International experience dealing with various cricket soils.Youll have an edge if you have:- A thorough understanding of the differing turf pitch attributes and soil qualities and types throughout the cricketing world.- Experience in turf maintenance and grounds presentation to ensure the turf meets the required national and international standards for sports at The Sevens stadium.- Knowledge of occupational health and safe workplace implementation and management.- Skilled in effectively dealing with clients and suppliers.- Experience in budgeting and understanding of working within budget restraints.- Attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, leadership, teamwork, and customer service.- The ability to work rostered hours (including weekends), under pressure, singularly or as a team member, as and when required.
