Design Technology Technician - UAE National - Al Mamoura Academy - Immediate - (220000FP)DescriptionAldar Education is currently seeking a qualified Design and Technology Technician for Al Mamoura Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing immediately.Al Mamoura Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender primary school and a girl?s only secondary school located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. This vision is supported by the Al Mamoura Learner and Teacher DNA which is at the heart of the school community.This is an exciting opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family of schools and to help shape the future of Abu Dhabi?s leading school group.The position will report into the ?School Operations & Support Services Manager? and work as part of the school Physical Education department to support the development of the department and the pool safety culture within the school.The successful candidates will be closely aligned with our core values and ethos and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.RESPONSIBILITIESMain Responsibilities:

• To prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons
• To maintain and monitor consumables and equipment in Design and Technology to ensure all pupils are able to access a wide range of materials and processes as part of their Design Technology provision
• To maintain and monitor stock control; ensure workshop equipment is clean and safe to use
• To assist the Head of Department in the ordering of materials and equipment
• To carry out weekly material and equipment checks across all technology rooms
• To assist staff in the production and updating of technology displays
• To assist teaching staff in the production and raising the profile of D&T within and outside the school
• Support workshop demos and supervises students in the workshop and ensures that all students adhere to workshop instructions
• Ensure the integration of safety and health practices during workshop lessons, preparations, maintenance, and care.
• To assist staff in the demonstration of machinery use to students
• Ensure that workshop machinery is regularly inspected and maintained
• Support team to highlight any Health and Safety checks on equipment and machinery and report to directly to the Head of Department/Operations

Other responsibilities

• To support the leadership team as required
• Undertake other similar duties and activities that fall within the grade and scope of the post, as directed by the line manager and the Middle & Senior School Principal

• NVQ/High School Certificate
• Excellent literacy and communication skills (both written and spoken) as a large part of the role involves communicating with SLT, Heads of Department, students, and parents
• An A Level in Design Technology would be an advantage
• Health and Safety qualification would be desirable

Minimum Experience:

• Experience with working in an educational context
