Job Description

We are looking for a driven Design Manager to manage our construction design team based in the Dubai office. You must be a highly motivated professional and will use your organizational skills to bring together architects, structural engineers, and services engineers, along with specialist designers, with the aim of producing a coordinated design. You are a good forward planner and excellent motivator, as you have to manage a team with different goals to enable them to work together to produce a coordinated and coherent design.Key Responsibilities would include:

  • Managing a design team, its activities, and resources efficiently and effectively
  • Support team to disrupt, improve and evolve ways of working when necessary.
  • Ensure all work areas meet quality, safety, and applicable compliance standards.
  • Managing the design process using his/her commercial, contractual, program, time management, and technical expertise.
  • Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development.
  • Establish creative strategy, budgets and schedules for key design projects.
  • Responsible for final construction project move in and go live.
  • Encouraging and inspiring design consultants to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources and talents in a cost effective way.
  • Assist in the development and training of the design and construction team.
  • Assist with budget to actual variance explanations for construction projects.
  • Operationalize and implement a standard system for design delivery.
  • Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate.
  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for design.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders, including IT, senior management, internal business partners, and vendors.
  • Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales.
  • Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.
  • Provide reporting on the implementation of projects while in progress and upon completion.
  • Solve business challenges with the goal of improving experience for prospects, customers and staff.
