About the TeamCareem Grocery is on a mission to reinvent the way people shop for grocery, pharmacy and retail products. As an exciting new vertical within Careem (a startup within a startup), we?re in the early stages of building our product and have plenty of interesting and fundamental challenges to solve in order to achieve our ambitious growth goals in this burgeoning space.As a Construction Manager, you?ll help us get our newly acquired commercial properties ready for prime time as we scale our dark store network across the Middle East. Real estate drives our business and this role is key to our success. This is a unique role with the opportunity to create genuine impact for the lives of everyday people in our region.We?re looking for someone who can ensure our stores are designed and built so they are perfect for our needs. You will lead efforts to ideate the layout and design for our stores, using a data driven and experiment oriented approach to deliver the most efficient and effective dark stores in the region, while also ensuring we meet all relevant building codes. • Oversee the architectural process from conceptual phase through construction document completion for new dark stores
• Partner with external consultants such as required in order to ensure delivery and approval of construction plans and documents
• Work and collaborate cross-functionally with all internal departments and key players to make sure all projects are completed in a timely manner
• Collaborate with construction managers during the construction administration phase and provide assistance to issues that may arise in the field, support with sketches, information, etc.
• Review the work progress along with the construction manager
• Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to site status
• Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
• Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and work with the construction manager where required to obtain permits and licenses
• Analyze, manage and mitigate risks

• At least 5 years of experience with relevant qualifications in architecture or interior design. Time spent a start-up is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of interior architecture, store or warehouse design, preparing site drawings for building approvals (, etc)
• Experience in multisite rollouts, managing external consultants, and experience in retail is a plus
• Experience in navigating and knowledge of zoning, building, and health and safety regulations is required
• Ability to ideate and develop new innovative concepts for store design
• Ability to plan and see the ?big picture? with excellent time and project management skills
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are a must, including the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
• Balance attention to detail with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well
• Self-starter - the ability to self-serve, investigate, get the information you require, and develop concepts on your own will make you much more effective in this role
• You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and address something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away
• Willingness to travel - you may support other markets in our region
• Fluent in Autocad, SketchUp or similar digital tools

• Even though we are working remotely, we are strong believers in collaboration and the power of building social connections with our teams. For that reason, our offices are still open and provide plenty of collaboration-friendly spaces at times when teams need it or if you need a quiet space to work outside of home.
• You?ll be working in the location you?re hired from. Due to legal and compensation considerations, you will need to be based out of the country you?re hired from as your primary work location.
