Job Description

Job SummaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate of Structures, to join our Abu Dhabi design studio. The Associate will leads a structural engineering design team (circa 10 staff) and plans, (including budget + resources) schedules, organizes, coordinates and executes the design work on projects of all scales with regular interaction with an Associate Director or designated senior team member.Responsibilities:

  • Leads the preparation of the Structural Engineering Design for all stages in accordance with the Initial Project Brief and Design Programme
  • Leads the technical co-ordination of specialist sub-consultants as necessary including the GDC / other AECOM offices and external sub-consultants
  • Responsible for key design input at early design phases and for general design leadership during the course of the project
  • Take initiatives to develop design manuals, standard design documents, presentations, etc. to increase efficiencies, knowledge and awareness across AECOMs Structural Engineering groups
  • Collaborates/communicates with other disciplines regarding coordination issues and common design tasks
  • Contribute, from the onset of a project, to the design of innovative and progressive design solutions that reconcile clients goals and priorities while fostering opportunities for design excellence
  • Understands and implements project management principles and able to work within project budgets which includes fees and designing to construction budget
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 12 years post-graduate experience
  • Proven related professional experience in a Structural Engineering Practice
  • Experience of working on large-scale projects
  • Middle East experience preferred (3+ years)
  • Extensive knowledge of Seismic Design principles
  • Extensive knowledge of Structural Design codes (as a minimum ACI, AISC, IBC, UBC and SBC)
  • Extensive knowledge of Concrete and Steelwork Design principles
  • Extensive knowledge of Structural Analysis and Design software (ETABS, SAFE and STAAD as a minimum)
  • Extensive high-rise design experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • B. Sc or BEng in Civil / Structural Engineereing
  • International Accreditation (CEng MIStructE or equivalent preferred) by adjusted to International Accreditation (for example, CEng MIStructE / PE) or regional equivalent
