Job Description

Job SummaryReporting to the Project Lead the Assistant Resident Engineer will assist Project Lead to lead AECOM?s Construction Supervision scope of services and act as the contact point with the contractor?s site team advising on all engineering and construction matters related to the project as per the contracted scope of work.Job Duties:

  • Supervise the contractors to ensure the works are constructed as per specification and to established milestone dates.
  • Assist Project Lead for the delivery (time, quality) of assigned package.
  • Manage and direct the supervision team to undertake day to day inspections of the works.
  • Maintain a very high level of Safety awareness and ensure the contractor complies with his obligations.
  • Resolves site issues
  • Presents progress and package issues to Project Lead
  • Discuss changes to the scope of work with the Project Lead
  • Responsible for following up on instructions & commitments associated with the project
  • Assist Project Lead to establishes Project Execution Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Quality Control Plan and other documents in relation to our scope
  • Assist Project Lead to establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project and monitors site staff performance
  • Plans, directs, supervises and controls the execution of all technical, progress and construction activities of the project and the site team
  • Assigns responsibility to key subordinates in their respective fields of expertise
  • Provides input to performance reviews and develop plans for subordinates
  • Work with other project engineers and discipline Heads to develop plans for the various elements of the project and maintain coordination between disciplines through the construction activities
  • Monitors and reports to Project Lead on the progress of all project activities within the program, including significant milestones and any conditions, which would affect project cost, schedule, performance or Client relation
  • Establishes internal weekly meetings to review project status and formulate action items with site team
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
  • Monitor Health and Safety of the construction works and lead to address violations
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 12 years of related construction supervision / management experience on Building and Construction projects plus 5 years in a senior related technical position with a broad general engineering background.
  • High-Rise Residential and Commercial buildings experience required with strong background in start-up, execution and handover of major projects within the UAE specifically Dubai.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Be commercially aware
  • Holds high work ethics and dedication
  • Be able to lead and motivate a team of Engineers
  • Client focus, ability to engage in discussions with contractor
  • Good team player with high energy levels.
  • Should be a problem solver and able to facilitate staff related issues and or conflicts
  • Safety conscious with demonstrated leadership in driving Health and Safety on projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural etc.) and PMP, plus membership of a recognized professional institution preferred
