The Health & Safety Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with local, national, and international health and safety regulations. This role involves identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and promoting a safety culture to protect employees, visitors, and the environment.Key Responsibilities:Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential health and safety risksDevelop and implement safety policies, procedures, and protocolsEnsure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislationInvestigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actionsOrganize and deliver health and safety training programs for staffMonitor workplace conditions and enforce safety regulationsMaintain records related to safety inspections, incidents, and trainingCollaborate with management and employees to promote a proactive safety cultureCoordinate emergency response planning and drillsStay updated on new safety regulations and industry best practicesQualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fieldRelevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalentStrong knowledge of health and safety laws, regulations, and standardsExcellent observational, analytical, and communication skills
