Job Description

The Transport Manager is responsible to plan, manage and coordinate the daily transportation operation and product shipments with a focus on safety and efficiency.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Plan, direct, or coordinate the transportation operations within the organization.
  • Schedule daily and weekly routes.
  • Track orders using functional systems (barcodes and tracking software).
  • Ensure vehicles are properly maintained.
  • Monitor and report on transportation costs.
  • Ensure shipping documents are properly filed.
  • Direct activities related to routing, dispatching, and tracking transportation vehicles, plan for all transport requirements (including planned and adhoc) for employees and, visitors.
  • Inspect vehicles.
  • Arrange repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Ensure that all drivers and operators have the correct, up to date qualifications.
  • Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment.
  • Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods.
  • Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation.
  • Stay up to date with safety regulations.
