Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE:Alters clothing to fit individual customers or repairs defective garments. Insuring a custom service to every clients demonstrating professionalism & offering personal advice. ??KEY ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Fit and study garments on customers to determine required alterations.
  • Measure customers, using tape measures, and record measurements.
  • Shortens or lengthens, expands or narrows, raises or lowers while maintaining drape and proportions of garment.
  • Repair or replace defective garment parts such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings.
  • Sew garments, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
  • Record required alterations and instructions on tags, and attach them to garments. Mark products, work pieces, or equipment with identifying information.
  • Examine tags on garments to determine alterations/materials that are needed.
  • Estimate how much a garment will take time & performs timely repairs on all items
  • Ensures that all items are repaired before issuing them to clients.
  • Press garments, using hand irons or pressing machines.
  • Put in padding and shaping materials.
  • Maintain and upkeep all sewing equipment?s
  • Organize and take inventory of all fabric materials
  • Inform manager for replenishing sewing supplies
  • Keep the tailoring area clean and tidy
