Maintains safe custody and administration of medications according to ward and hospital policies and procedures.
Ensures safety of patients, staff and visitors by maintaining a safe and tidy environment and by reporting any deficiencies promptly.
Ensures safe custody of patient property and valuables in accordance with PSCC policies and procedures.
Ensures that all incidents are reported to the Charge Nurse/Head Nurse.
Ensures availability of resources and utilizes them economically.
Develops and maintains a positive attitude and good professional working relationships with colleagues.
Participates in ward Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
Represents ward by serving on teams/committees as requested.
Performs the shift in-charge role as allocated. Makes decisions in routine situations and successfully manages problems. Seeks guidance when required.
Performs as the Nursing Supervisor (Bleep 4343) when rostered. Manages nursing services and resources, directs and supports nursing staff as needed.
Provides orientation, support and evaluation of new staff in the ward.
Acts up in a more senior position and assists with management role when necessary.
Completes relevant unit skills competencies within specified time frames.
Able to float to paediatric wards as needed, with support.
Is responsible for own learning needs and professional development in conjunction with the Nurse Clinician/Charge Nurse/Head Nurse.
Attends all mandatory and ward required study programs.
Guides/teaches new/junior staff.
Is involved in educational activities within the ward as per the request of management.
