SummarySupervises/performs routine treatment planning and treatment time/MU calculation for patients undergoing radiation therapy.Essential Responsibilities and Duties1. Verifies patient?s radiation treatment prescription and insures that all input data needed to facilitate the delivery of the prescribed dose is accurately recorded in the patient?s chart.2. Supervises/performs manual or computer-aided treatment planning and dose calculation for patients undergoing external radiation treatment or brachytherapy.3. Supervises/performs direct patient dose delivery confirmation measurements using thermoluminescent dosimeters or other available dosimetry system.4. Supervises/performs weekly chart checks for correctness of radiation dose delivery record and dose summation.5. Assists Radiation Oncologists during patient simulation to provide optimal patient treatment.6. Supervises/performs routine quality assurance tests on radiation treatment planning workstations and dose calculation computers.7. Participates in the training of Dosimetrists, Medical Physics Students and Radiation Oncology Residents.8. Assists supervisor in job related activities as assigned.9. Participates in Department/Unit specific and Hospital wide quality improvement plan preferred.EducationMaster?s or Bachelor?s Degree in Physics, Radiation Therapy or other related discipline from a recognized institution is required.Experience RequiredFour (4) years of experience in Medical Dosimetry or a related field with Master?s, or six (6) years with Bachelor?s Degree is required.Other Requirements(Certificates)N/A.
