Job Description

The job description of a planning engineer involves organizing construction and contracting projects to align with the owners expectations at the projects completion. The planning engineer identifies dependent and independent stages, materials, equipment, personnel, and the time required for each phase. Based on this, they allocate the available budget into payment schedules and key deliverables throughout the projects lifecycle. Additionally, they prepare reports and estimates to help the owner understand everything that has been executed and delivered to the consultant.

  • Supervising engineering techniques and the sequence of activities for each phase of the project.
  • Planning and designing projects using specialized design software.
  • Ensuring planning meets client specifications and requirements.
  • Preparing estimates for timelines and costs.
  • Overseeing the project at all stages and providing solutions to problems.
  • Collaborating with site managers, survey supervisors, and on-site engineers.
  • Organizing material transportation and implementing safety procedures.
  • Understanding project specifications and developing time schedules and budgets that meet them.
  • Negotiating with vendors and contractors to secure the best prices.
  • Observing existing processes, analyzing staff performance, and addressing deficiencies accordingly.
  • Monitoring and tracking project progress, and writing up reports.
  • Attending and scheduling meetings as required.
  • Delegating tasks and ensuring workers receive feedback.
  • Understanding and meeting all contract requirements.
  • Communicating with managers, supervisors, and the rest of the team.
  • Analyzing technical drawings and providing material and cost estimates.
  • Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budgets
