Job Description

Office Management:

  • Supervising a facility means planning operational policies and procedures, managing facility workers, budgeting, and supervising the usage of supplies and equipment for the facility.
  • Facility supervisors also must coordinate and integrate the activities of all company within the facility for seamless efficiency.?
  • These functions will include providing purchase orders for equipment, scheduling meeting times for the facility office spaces.
Maintenance:
  • A facility supervisor must always have plans in place to maintain a variety of systems and functions within the facility.
For example, a cleanup crew must be supervised to regularly execute cleaning procedures throughout the facility, including restrooms and other areas of the building - or an outdoor crew to maintain landscaping outside the building.?
  • Additionally, the supervisor keeps watch over maintenance and repair of facility equipment, whether it be industrial, in the facility kitchen, or vending machines in the break rooms. At the administrative level, facility supervisors utilize a system of maintenance for paper and computer records associated with operating the facility, such as expenses for facility supplies or contract policies.
Security:
  • A facility supervisor must continually monitor the facility for compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • The supervisor coordinates efforts with security company personnel as well as law enforcement representatives.
This ensures that employees at the facility are not at risk of health or environmental dangers.
  • Safety and security checks might apply to electrical systems, security and fire alarms, maintenance of machinery, and outdoor grounds.?
  • The facility supervisor must have a plan in place for emergency preparedness to protect both the physical facility and personnel
Problem Solving:
  • Facility managers must find new ways of managing their facilities that reduce costs and improve efficiency, productivity and safety.?
