SummaryResponsible for the operation of Pharmaceutical Care Di vision, including strategic planning, day-to-day operations, clinical and distribution services, financial management, and personnel management for the division.Essential Responsibilities and Duties1. Develops and coordinates the achievement of departmental long and short-range goals based on developments and trends in health care on the specific needs of the Hospital. Prepares Polices and Procedures manual of the Pharmacy and revises, as necessary.2. Ensures that medications are used safely, rationally, and effectively. Enhances drug therapies to correct deficiencies in the drug use process. Provides accurate and scientific drug information to other health professionals.3. Controls utlilization of departemntal resources and operates the department within the approved budget.4. Develops and oversees an organized formal program to ensure the high quality of pharmaceutical care and ensures compliance with established standards of practice from accreditation organizations (eg., JCI, USP,ASHP).5. Prepares periodic reports to hospital administration containing qualitative and quantitative data of Pharmaceutical Careactivities.6. Assesses on a continous basis, departmental provided services and functions to improve services and , if possible, to reduce the costs.7. Ensures proper dispensing, disposal, and record keeping of controlled drugs. Maintains liaison with the Ministry of Health and Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) regarding all matters pertaining to controlled drugs.8. Initiates and coordinates drug research activiities.9. Approves performance standards for allPharmaceutical Carestaff. Establishes appropriate staffing levels and positions to achieve departmental objectives.10. Integrates pharmaceutical Care with other hospitla departments and the medical staff to establis a multidiciplinary approach to improving patient care.11. Develops and justifies new pharmaceutical Careprograms and services to improve patient care.12. Ensures that pharmaceutical Care automations systems are up-to-date and appropriately integrated into other systems within the Hospital.13. Implements and monitors all prescribed safety procedures. Enforces all Hospital and division-related policies and procedures to achieve services objectives.14. Represents the department at professional committees and task forces, as requested.15. Establishes and maintains a pharmaceutical care training model to serve as a suitable environment for training Pharmaceutical Care students.16. Participates in self and others education, training and development, as applicable.17. Participate in self and others professional development.EducationPharmD. / Master?s Degree inPharmacy and Pharmacy Residency program from an accredited College of Pharmacyafter completion of Bachelor?s Degree in Pharmacy is required.Experience RequiredTwelve (12) years of relatedexperience in a tertiary care setting, including five (5) years of experiencein Senior/Supervisor or Managerial capacity in a large, complex hospital,health care institution or related health care organization with PharmD. /Master?s Degree is required.Other Requirements(Certificates)NA
