About the jobThe Business Year, a leading provider of economic intelligence and a publisher of annual trade and investment resources, is now hiring Country Editors to be trained for one of TBY projects worldwide.The Business Year is a global media group that has been providing investors, businesses, and governments with first-hand insights into the world?s most dynamic markets for over a decade. We conduct hundreds of interviews a week with top decision makers in the Middle East, Latin America, Central and Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe. Our content is available in printed reports and across an array of digital platforms.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Country Editor (CE) position is an editorial and journalistic position involving significant travel. They are based in one of the 30+ countries we cover and are tasked with scheduling and conducting interviews with some of the top executives, policymakers, and investors in that country. CEs also write articles for our publications and website, as well as support advertising sales through their research. The CE is paired with a Country Manager who is responsible for advertising sales.This role requires excellent interpersonal skills as it requires extensive contact with high level officials and businesspeople. It also requires strong economic knowledge and language skills. Editors are tasked with a significant amount of writing and research. Over the course of the 4-10 months you are based in a country, you become an expert on that nation?s economic reality.Candidates should feel comfortable meeting executives, royal family members, and ministers. They should be adventurous and confident that they can establish friendships quickly in a new country. They should also be prepared to work hard and be largely self-directed.Compensation is in line with global standards, and is based partially on commissions. Accommodation, transportation, communication and other work-related expenses are covered by TBY while you are in the field, and international health insurance is provided.As a Country Editor at TBY, you would be:Based abroad for 11 months every year in a variety of international destinations spending an average of 3-10 months in each country.Working in a team of 2/3 responsible for analysing and identifying leading industry players, conducting interviews with world?s top decision makers (Presidents, Ministers, Chairmen, CEOs, etc.), collecting first-hand information and writing authoritative articles.
