Our teams of dedicated professionals work together in an entrepreneurial atmosphere, providing a broad range of innovative tools and services to the clinical diagnostics and life science research markets.The Research Associate works under direct manager supervision to develop new diagnostic clinical assays, or to improve existing methods. Tasks associated with this position include experiment execution in a laboratory setting, planning, and assisting with data collection, data analysis, and preparation of research reports.Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Has full understanding of and the ability to apply established principles, theories, and concepts in area of responsibility. Projects may require familiarity with current scientific literature in conjunction with the capability to select methods and techniques for obtaining solution with generally defined practices and policies.
• Responsible for performing research and development experiments for projects in collaboration with members of R&D team and under the direct manager supervision.
• Participates in the design of experimental tests and receives approval on designs before proceeding with laboratory experiments.
• Regularly exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project goals.
• Maintains and cultures microorganisms as necessary using sterile microbiological techniques and standard precaution procedures in a BSL-2 laboratory.
• Performs background research and participates in document preparation for internal or external use. Writes process documents as requested by manager according to specific regulations.
• Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses. Maintains accurate, timely, and thorough records of experiments and results.
• Effectively communicates results and data analysis during presentations for R&D group meetings. May participate in external seminars and scientific conferences.
• Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance and troubleshoots problems with guidance of Supervisor.
• Participates in job specific training, competency assessment reviews, and performance evaluations.
• Performs other duties and functions as directed the R&D Manager or VP of R&D.

• This position may require working additional time beyond the assigned hours.
• Adheres to the laboratorys Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures and documents all related activities.
• Complies with company health, safety, environmental, and compliance policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Biology or Chemistry with 2 or more years of experience in related laboratory setting.
• Must possess proficiency with basic computer programs.
• Must be able to multitask and keep up in a fast-paced environment.
• Must work well independently with minimal supervision.
• Must demonstrate key problem-solving skills: active listening, analysis, research, creativity, communication, dependability, decision making, and team building.
