Chair and Professor, Department of Physical Therapy (12-Mo-TT) Samford Universitys School of Health Professions invitesapplicants interested in serving in a Christian universityenvironment to apply for the position of Department Chair andProfessor in the Department of Physical Therapy. Thistenure-track faculty position is a 12-month appointment and willbegin in January 2023. The major responsibilities of the departmentchair are to provide leadership in strategic planning, fiscalmanagement, assessment, and overall development and evaluation ofthe faculty and staff in the department. Department chair mayalso serve as program director. Responsibilities as a facultymember, include teaching, scholarly activity, and service.Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limitedto: program assessment, accreditation standards and reports,curriculum development, student advising, and studentmentoring.Qualified candidates will hold a physical therapy degree from aCAPTE-accredited program. Candidates must also hold anacademic doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D, D.Sci.). Candidatesmust hold current licensure, or be eligible for licensure, inAlabama as a PT. Candidates should have previous academicexperience as a faculty member in an accredited PT program, havedemonstrated leadership experience, and have demonstratedcommitment to collaborative learning models and innovative physicaltherapy education. A commitment to academic excellence andthe ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty,students and colleagues are expected.The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: School ofHealth Professions, Moffett & Sanders School ofNursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, and School of Public Health.The College offers multiple degree programs and majors within thehealth sciences with an inter-professional education focus thatreflects todays team approach to health care delivery andprofessional practice.Samford University (www.samford.edu) is the largestprivately supported and fully accredited institution for higherlearning in Alabama.
