Principal Exploration Geophysicist ? Muscat, OmanCompany OverviewWe are a UK-based specialised services company, with a history of successful appointments for some of the world?s largest and best-respected oil operating and service companies.Currently, we are working closely with an international operator, with E&P assets in Europe, Middle East and North Africa, searching for a Principal Exploration Geophysicist for their Muscat offices.As a Middle-Eastern company, our client is extremely proud of their company culture and heritage and are looking to add an expat into their team, who can have a significant impact, both on their exploration opportunities and the development of their young, talented current team.The Role:As Principal Geophysicist, you will join a dynamic team of talented exploration geoscientists, based in Muscat, working to enter new regions and seek new opportunities to grow the company?s global portfolio of oil and gas production.As one of the few expats within the company, this is an opportunity to have a significant impact on an ambitious company, looking to further develop their already successful business model.Reporting Directly to the company?s Director of Exploration, you will plan a vital role as the team?s most senior technical staff member, delivering results by:

  • Developing and presenting prospects to the company?s Senior Management and Partners, with clear recommendations to acquire, drop, farm out or test prospects.
  • Managing the company?s geophysical data, including 2D and 3D seismic; including seismic data analysis and interpretation, AVO use to characterise prospects, building velocity models and using modelling techniques to assess reservoir and charge risks.
  • Evaluating new opportunities through data rooms, bid rounds and meetings with both national and international companies.
  • Working closely with the company?s multi-disciplinary team in the planning and operational phases of drilling programs.
  • Utilising your expertise to participate in peer reviews and supporting younger and national team members.
The Right PersonAs the successful candidate, you will:
  • Have demonstrable history (of ideally around 20+ years) of work as an exploration geophysicist, ideally working with both large and small oil international companies, with a track record of working across a range of global regions and varied basins
  • Have a minimum of a BSC (or equivalent) in geophysics or a similar discipline. An MSc or PhD would be considered advantageous.
  • Be able to demonstrate a successful history of generating, maturing, recommending and drilling prospects in a variety of basins, including both onshore and offshore prospects.
This role is offered on an expat basis, with our client providing a package including tax-free basic salary, annual bonus, housing allowance, schooling allowance, car assistance and relocation allowance.Next Steps:We are inviting immediate applications for this role.
