Job Description

The RoleReporting into the Senior Finance Manager - MET, the key purpose of this role is to:

  • Act as finance business partner to the Oman business who:
    • Provides support and challenge to local and regional leadership team
    • Independently provides strong commercial insight & support to the business
    • Takes ownership for delivery of high standard outputs on a timely basis, including monthly reporting and forecasts
    • Develops a collaborative working relationship with the onshore & offshore (Mumbai) finance team and proactively drives efficient working practices across MET Geo
  • Understand the businesses key contracts and regulatory requirements and ensure rental costs are correctly accounted for, payments are administered on a timely basis and all Central Bank of Oman (?CBO?) reporting and requests are addressed on a timely basis.
  • Manage external and internal audits. Ensure all audit findings are addressed on a timely basis.
  • Take ownership for maintain appropriate financial controls. Identify any deficiencies in existing controls and proactively propose additional controls to address these.
  • Identify efficiencies in processes and reporting and proactively drive an improvement agenda (front office and back office).
  • Develop strong systems knowledge (SAP, MIBI, POS) and utilise it to strengthen the reporting of existing products (e.g. remittance) and establish reporting for any new offerings.
Key tasks in the role
  • Reporting and analysis:
    • Accountable for month end close and management reporting
    • Preparation of ad hoc analysis and board papers
    • Preparation of VAT returns
    • Preparation of year end statutory accounts
  • Regulatory:
    • Monthly reporting to the CBO, including but not limited to ITRS
    • Responding to CBO requests and managing CBO audits
  • Commercial decision support on a day to day basis, together with preparation of business cases
  • Preparation of forecasts / budgets including clear articulation of the assumptions, risks and opportunities
  • Take ownership for managing external and internal audits. Ensure all audit findings are addressed on a timely basis.
  • Accountable for balance sheet management. Maintaining appropriate financial controls. Ensures all balance sheet reconciliations are completed on an accurately and timely basis and are reviewed and signed off.
  • Identify efficiencies, savings and process improvements
  • Utilise systems and accounting knowledge to drive improvements in reporting, successfully deliver projects to meet regulatory requirements and / or business needs, support new product offerings and drive efficiency in reporting and processes
Other
  • Be responsive to business needs and to changes in priorities. This will include flexing to deliver upon ad hoc requests and at times flexing working hours to meet key deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with onshore finance team and back office (Mumbai) to drive efficient working practices
Knowledge, Skills and personal qualities:
  • Qualified Accountant (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA), preferably with a minimum of two years post qualification experience
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP, preferred
  • Experience proactively managing expectations of multiple stakeholders and consistently delivering to agreed deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to challenge constructively when required to do so
