Pediatric and ob/Gyn specialty are called to the ER to assess cases in their specialty presented to the ER (N.B.ER doctor assesses these two categories and do 1st aid if warranted otherwise the primary ER specialist is the specially Physicians in these two specialties
Initiating a care plan pathway that lies hand in hand with the care pathway formulated by the ER manager and in line with the clinical guidelines and pathways.
Ensuring that upon receiving the emergency case are available to support the proper care provided for the patient.
Monitoring the patient whilst in the ER all the time according to the severity of his/her condition.
Responsible for the reassessment of the cases in the ER with a frequency that is judged by the clinical contingency of the case.
Actively interfering in the immediate resuscitation efforts to bring a critically ill patient to stability before proceeding further into any line of management
Directly providing some medications that should be only given by or under physician supervision.
Contacting the relevant specialists for any assistance in the proper development of conjoined care plans.
Contacting the consultants and getting their documented input to the care plan of the patient before moving on to the second phase of management.
Actively and personally assessing the patients supportive needs in the emergency settings (including circulatory and respiratory, feeding and pain control).
Getting in contact with the critical care area physicians for the safe and final disposition of patients to their custody with primary supportive measures done in the ER and documented care plan in the patient file.
Responding to emergency ambulances calls making sure that the necessary resources tailored to the patient condition are there on board of the ambulance.
Personally working to retrieve the patient lab tests and radiology tests that would end up in the patient ultimate care plan.
Actively initiate and participate in the critical codes in the ER including code blue and code trauma.
Actively intervene in the safe transfer of the critically ill patients to their final disposition in case no vacancy or available resources or for cases out of the hospital?s scope of service.
Ensuring the proper documentation of the cases care plan, transfer plan and discharge plan and ensures that the medical reports are there for the effective sealing of the medical records loop in the ER.
Actively involved in assessing emergency consultants or any other consultants in providing the secondary care to the patient.
Supervises the safe and comprehensive documented discharge plan for the ER patients including (family education, take home instructions, take home medications and medications reconciliation and the revisit and follow up at the OPD.
