Determine the anesthesia plan and its requirement and determine degree of surgical risk, and type of anesthetic and sedation to administer.
On the Operation room
Recheck the patients to determine the fitness of the patient for the anesthesia.
The anesthetist checks the anesthesia machine and ensure its efficiency.
Checks the monitor and ensure its efficiency
Checks oxygen sources and ensure its efficiency
Checks the availability and readiness of the needed equipment and drug.
Anesthetize the patient and administers anesthetics to render patients insensible to pain during surgical procedures.
Positions patient on operating table and administers local, intravenous, spinal, caudal, or other anesthetic according to prescribed medical standards.
Observe the patient during the operation and take the necessary action according to thepatient medical situation
Institutes remedial measures to counteract adverse reactions or complications.
Records type and amount of anesthetic and sedation administered and condition of patient before, during, and after anesthesia.
Document all anesthesia ?related events and action taken on patient medical record.
The anesthetist will be totally responsible for the recovery of all patients anesthetized by him
Document and instruct the responsible staff nurse with anesthesia-relevant instructions.
The anesthetist should give the priority to patients according to their health needs.
Close follow up to the critical ill patient.
Rechecking the patients condition whenever there are significant changes in their medical situation or in the result of the clinical tests.
Obtains other specialty consultation when necessary.
Referring patients to other clinician whenever the patients medical condition require.
Provides consultation services to other departments of the hospital.
Writing medical reports whenever are required by the patients.
Responsible for the completion of the medical record.
Responding to medical emergencies in the patient room when required.
Conduction of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation in case of medical emergency.
Close cooperation between the doctor and the nursing staff is required and there be clinical round with the nurse to explain them, in more details, the condition and treatment of the patients.

Participates fully in quality improvement activities and other medical staff activities as assigned within the hospital.
