CNC and Automation TechnicianAmerican International University - Kuwait Cityfor the 2023-2024 Academic yearAmerican International University (AIU) seeks an enthusiastic, energetic CNC and Automation Technician. The School of Engineering and Computing at AIU seeks a CNC and Automation technician to perform experimental work and demonstrate the manufacturing processes to our students. As a CNC technician, you will identify the workpiece dimensions and specifications, generate G-code, enter them into the CNC machine, set up the machine and monitor it as it operates. The successful candidate is expected to be able to explain how several components of industrial and process automation work, including actuators, electric drives, pneumatic grippers, industrial robots, vacuum technologies, valves and valve terminals sensors, control technology and remote etc., The individual will also be responsible for demonstrating automated systems similar to industrial settings.Primary Function:To fill this position, we seek a highly motivated and well-trained CNC and Automation Technician. The successful candidate will run and monitor computer-numeric-controlled machines, which are used to do experimental work for engineering students. The successful candidate will also display a dedication to inclusive excellence and a culture of diversity in science and higher education.Responsibilities:

• Determine the fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications, and mount them on a machine prior to beginning cutting
• Discuss workpiece specifications with instructors and generate G-code
• Modify machine speed, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts
• Supervise machine temperatures, ensure that the machine has adequate warm-up and cool-down time between jobs and replace coolant periodically
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement
• Operate computerized industrial control such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
• Run and monitor automation technologies for industrial and manufacturing environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Engineering diploma or equivalent
• Three years of experience operating CNC machines
• Comfortable using tools for the operation
• Knowledge of programming (G-code) and CNC software
• Passion for automation technology, controls and production concepts
• Technical knowledge and adequate educational background in industrial and process automation and control.
• A positive can do attitude and willingness to promote life-long learning across AIU.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people.
