Graphic Design, Teaching AssistantUndergraduate Faculty Kuwait, Kuwait Minimum ExperienceExperiencedGraphic Design, Teaching Assistant School of Architecture and Design American International University - Kuwait City for the 2021-2022 Academic year American International University (AIU) is looking for a dynamic and engaged full-time Graphic Design, Teaching Assistant for its newly established School of Architecture and Design. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, building successful learning environments with students, who collaboratively engage with faculty and mentor students, and who are ambitious about developing new and impactful research within the Kuwait region. AIU invites applicants for a full-time Teaching Assistant appointment in the Graphic Design program. The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages professional trends and technologies to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will be an active member of the design field. The individual will be able to utilize and teach both studio coursework as well as technical or supplemental courses and demonstrate experience with standard industry tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Also, the candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The position carries the expectation for research and school and University service in addition to teaching responsibilities. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching related to their specific expertise within the professional Graphic Design curriculum, and be able to work within a small program, specialized in personal attention. Also, we expect leadership in undergraduate programs, curriculum development, mentoring, and startups. Education and Skills Required: The candidate must hold a BSc Graphic Design or Visual Communication. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. An in-depth knowledge and skills of specialist subject and professional area. Graduation GPA must be at least very good. At least two years? teaching experience is preferred. Fluency in English Language. Excellent communications skills are needed. * Team player, open to new ideas and teamwork, self-motivated individual, willingness to continually strive to increase personal knowledge and value. Experience: * Graphic Design: 2 years (Required) * Teaching: 1 year (Preferred) Language: * English (Required) * Arabic (Preferred) Summary of Responsibilities: * Assist the course instructor in supervising the students? projects * Following up with the students their project submission * Practical session management and supervision * Assist the course instructor in grading the course assessments * Assist the course instructor in the course paperwork * Collaborating with the instructor to identify students? issues and recommend solutions * Ensure the safety procedures and help students to follow the safety instructions during their presence in the design laboratories * Help students and researchers in the school in conducting experiments, research, and projects * Observing state, school and class rules and regulations * Participation in school committees and carry out other tasks related to course * Attending faculty meetings Job Requirements: * Candidate should have the following qualifications: * Ability to update and develop professionally through further education and training. * A sound understanding of research/innovation and scholarly activity. * A sound knowledge of the digital illustrations, visual communication, branding, and multimedia in Graphic Design. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing * Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures * Ability to provide activities for students that encourage learning abilities * Supervisory skills * Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students.
