Job Description

As an Operations Executive, the candidate should ensure that haulage and public transport get to their destinations safely, on time and in the most cost-effective way.Roles & Duties:Logistics:

  • Planning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries.
  • Booking in deliveries and liaising with customers.
  • Allocating and recording resources and movements on the transport planning system.
  • Ensuring all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicating effectively with clients and responding to their requirements.
  • Booking sub-contractors and ensuring they deliver within agreed terms.
Transport management:
  • Plan with management to determine strategic direction of the Transportation Division.
  • Directing all transportation activities.
  • Developing transportation relationships.
  • Monitoring transport costs.
  • Negotiating and bargaining transportation prices.
  • Dealing with the effects of congestion.
  • Confronting climate change issues by implementing transport strategies and monitoring an organization?s carbon footprint.
  • Supervise key terminal staff to monitor operations at all company truck terminals, ensuring workload is completed per customer expectations: efficiently, safely and compliant with all applicable regulations
  • Develop and implement compliant, effective safety programs
  • Direct activities of staff performing repairs and maintenance to equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Conduct investigations in cooperation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with issues related to drivers (private and personal matters), rates, customers, and other proprietary items.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
General duties:
  • Assist sales team with marketing transportation services by providing information about available capacity and working with existing customers in sales opportunities
  • Partner with accounting staff and sales team to monitor customer payment
  • Remain knowledgeable on current industry regulations, trends, and other relevant information
  • Share in off-hours/weekend call duties with other staff members and management
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity at all times and in all circumstances.
  • Perform all duties in a professional manner which promotes the image, growth, profitability, and success of the company
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Collaborate with other managers and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
  • Analyze expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.
  • Negotiate and authorize contracts with equipment and materials suppliers, and monitor contract fulfillment.
