Job Description

Job Role:The Category Manager is responsible to develop the overall strategy for a product category and research new product opportunities within the category to drive sales and achieve set targets.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Analyse data to determine industry and consumer trends.
  • Identify and establish long-term partnerships with direct distributors and wholesalers.
  • Stay on the lookout for new suppliers based on strategy.
  • Assist in setting the yearly budget/sales target and profit per category.
  • Contribute in setting and implementing business plans to achieve target.
  • Administer the price setting and respect the margin per category.
  • Monitor and enhance category/product performance.
  • Establish long-term development strategies for product categories.
  • Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
  • Create trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services.
  • Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands.
  • Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility.
  • Monitor price and competition.
  • Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories.
  • Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category.
