Basic FunctionÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿA basic function of an HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) ISO internal auditor involves conducting audits to assess the effectiveness of an organizations HSE management system in accordance with ISO standards. This includes reviewing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance, identifying areas for improvement, and providing recommendations for corrective actions to enhance HSE performance.1.ÿÿÿÿÿDocumentation Review: Review documentation related to health, safety, and environmental management systems to ensure they meet ISO standards.2.ÿÿÿÿÿGAP Analysis: - Prepare the gap analysis for the current document system.ÿ3.ÿÿÿÿÿRisk Assessment: Evaluate occupational health and safety risks as well as environmental impacts within the organization, and suggest measures to mitigate them.4.ÿÿÿÿÿTraining: Provide training and guidance to employees on ISO standards, procedures, and best practices related to health, safety, and environmental management.5.ÿÿÿÿÿConducting Audits: Perform internal audits to assess compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, identifying non-conformities and areas for improvement.6.ÿÿÿÿÿPrepare the report: The auditor must prepare the internal audit report and share it with MRM.7.ÿÿÿÿÿInternal NCRs: The auditor must do the follow-up for the internal NCRs and support from the safety team to close the NCRs with proper corrective actions.8.ÿÿÿÿÿISO External audit: Assist theHSE Manager/Engineer in scheduling the ISO external audit.9.ÿÿÿÿÿHSE Documents: - Produce all the required documents to the ISO external auditor.10.ÿCollect the report: - Coordinate with the ISO external team and collect the report from them in order to close the NCRs if any.11.ÿRoot Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for non-conformities identified during audits to determine underlying issues and prevent recurrence.12.ÿÿCommunication: Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management for fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.13.ÿWork Instruction: Support the HSE Manager/engineer to prepare safe work Instructions for all activities.14.ÿDocumentation Management: Maintain accurate records of audits, findings, corrective actions, and other relevant documentation in accordance with ISO standards and organizational requirements. Provide the document numbers for all the documents and if any requirements come for changing the documents, must be done according to the ISO procedure only.15.ÿContinuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to existing processes and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of the management systems.16.ÿCompliance Monitoring: Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformities identified during audits, ensuring compliance with ISO standards.17.ÿSupport Certification: Assist in the preparation for external audits by certification bodies, providing necessary documentation and support to achieve ISO certification18.ÿStay Updated: Keep abreast of changes in ISO standards, regulations, and industry best practices related to occupational health, safety, and environmental management.19.ÿPromote Awareness: Promote awareness of health, safety, and environmental responsibilities among employees, encouraging participation and commitment to the management systems.20.ÿEmergency Preparedness: Evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response procedures and plans, ensuring they are aligned with ISO requirements and adequately address potential risks.21.ÿSupplier Assessment: Assess the health, safety, and environmental practices of suppliers and contractors to ensure they meet applicable standards and requirements.22.ÿManagement Review: Participate in management review meetings to present audit findings, discuss performance against objectives, and recommend actions for improvement23.ÿLegal Compliance: Monitor changes in health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant with applicable legal requirements.
