BackgroundACTED will support the implementation of a large-scale afforestation project ran in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment (MoE) in Jothur Reserve, Karak, that will contribute to the sustainable greening of an additional 3,000 dunums through a cash-for-work (CfW) approach, thereby contributing to mitigating land degradation while fostering economic resilience and food security. Under the programme, ACTED will also facilitate access to decent work opportunities by supporting cash-workers? employability skills and promoting sustainable environmental practices within economic activities, through technical trainings, on-the-job coaching and awareness raising. Lastly, the project will contribute to social cohesion through the provision of cash for work opportunities for both Syrian refugees and Jordanians, as well as team building exercises.Through the proposed project, ACTED will contribute to improving the livelihoods of vulnerable Jordanians and Syrian refugees in Karak governorate in a sustainable manner, while enhancing forestation and agricultural development in the area. ACTED will involve 50 beneficiaries into labour-intensive work to implement Phase 3 of the ?Roots? project by engaging in the forestation process of the chosen site by addressing sustainability and environmental challenges through smart agriculture techniques.Job PurposeThe Project Manager (PM) will operate under operational guidance of the Area Coordinator (AC) and technical guidance of the Agricultural/Livelihood Project Coordinator (PC) and Cash for Work technical advisor. He/she will be responsible for ensuring the overall success of ACTED?s management of Jordanian and Syrian workers involved in the afforestation project within the time and resources allocated. The Project Manager oversees field operations and ensures effective and timely completion of activities, delivery of quality outputs and achievement of outcomes with maximum impact for beneficiaries. The Project Manager supervises the project staff in day-to-day management of all aspects of the management of Jordanian and Syrian workers involved in the activitiest and liaises with relevant internal departments and external partners as well as project stakeholders (Ministry of Environment, GiZ, Ministry of Agriculture, Royal Botanical Garden, etc.).adherence with acted greening policy:ACTED?s greening strategy aims to tackle environmental degradation and climate change while meeting the needs of the most vulnerable who are often those most affected by the deepening environmental crisis.
