Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan implement and and evaluate patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures; provide guidance, direction and coordination for assigned personnel in activities directed towards standards of patient care safety and infection control.
IS familiar with all instruments required in various cases and specialties.
Is familiar with surgeons privileges and preferences in providing patients with the highest standards and levels of care.
Ensures that operation is performed on correct patient and correct procedure by using Time-Out, Sign in/out form
Able to manage and monitor patients having sedation.
Conducts pre / post-operative education
Recognizes emergency situations and takes appropriate action providing clinical guidance, direction and coordination of activities for auxiliary staff.
Recovery Room
Assesses and monitors patients condition after surgery has been performed and reports changes.
Monitors all lines i,e. CVP intravenous lumen catheter etc. As well as wound site and drainage systems.
Able to recognize post operative complications such as hemorrhaging, as well as post anesthesia complications such as laryngeal strider.
Able to manage and monitor patients having sedation.
