SUMMARY: Ingenia?s Research and Development group in Jubail, Saudi Arabia is looking for a polymer scientist, materials scientist, or an organic chemist or chemical engineer with a strong background in polymer processing. The Research Scientist will help drive further growth in Ingenia?s business through successful development and commercialization of new products. The Research Scientist will identify, propose, gain approval and carry out both short- and long-term development projects for development of new products or processes applicable to Ingenia?s businesses. The Research Scientist will also carry out service projects in support of customers and manufacturing. Ingenia?s products are in the broad areas of polyolefins compounds, masterbatches and additives used to service the polyolefin production and conversion (extrusion, molding, forming) industries. Ingenia?s markets are in the areas of polyolefin flexible packaging, industrial films, agricultural films, pressure pipe, rotomoulding, structural and advanced materials. Development work in this position involves design of experiments, raw materials evaluations, process and equipment evaluations, formulation, scale-up support from laboratory trials to production, plant support, and technical service in support of commercialization. This is an exciting opportunity to learn, develop and contribute in a dynamic, technology driven, entrepreneurial environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for development of new products and manufacturing processes, with the aim of commercialization, for Ingenia?s proprietary products group. This includes development of polyolefin masterbatches, compounds and advanced materials for use in flexible packaging, rigid packaging, agricultural film, additive manufacturing, pressure pipe, thermoforming, injection molding or other downstream applications in line with the company?s strategy. This involves:
• Project definition in cooperation with Product Market Managers and / or the R&D Manager.
• Literature and patent review
• Supplier contacts and evaluation of new materials, processes and equipment
• Design of experiments, formulation and evaluation of new products in Ingenia?s applications lab
• Project management of multiple development and service projects
• Coordinating with other team members including marketing, sales, production, and support personnel to achieve project objectives.
• Development of safety and materials data, and marketing materials in support of product launch
• Plant scale-up support.
• Trial support at customer?s facilities
• Reverse engineering and analytical support.
• Learn and practice Safety and ISO Quality procedures.
• Prepare SDS and regulatory compliance documents for customers.
• Evaluate and make recommendations on raw material selection.
• Study principles, methods, and approaches to bring innovative solutions to the product and process development effort.
• Develop technical solutions through hands-on experimentation.
• Document lab results and recommendations via timely and comprehensive reporting.
• Solve customer problems, support process improvement, and take responsibility of new product/process development projects.
• Represent Ingenia Technology when required to outside customers.
