Grade Level: L1Location: IslamabadLast date to apply: Oct 30th, 2022What is Specialist FOO engineer?Specialist FOO is responsible for Optical Fiber Cable network operations covering ISP/OSP in both Preventive and Corrective measures activities on 24*7 basis as per specified JDs in coordination with field teams, Ops team, NOC L1, NDTO, and Planning team as per requirement of network issues.The role reports directly to the Manager FOO with an extended team of 06 team members.What does Specialist FOO engineer do?

• Maintain fiber network availability of the designated links and ensure full compliance to the Service Level Agreement
• Operations and maintenance (Fiber Optic Core, Metro and Access Network) of Huawei / Ericsson SDH/MSTP/DWDM/OTN/SPO/IPRAN/FTTS Equipment and Fiber Optic Cable
• Rectify remote and on-site network equipment failure in case of any disaster
• Ensure that Service Operation KPIs related to troubleshooting, escalation and fault management are met in term of MTTR
• Maintain complete network documentation for fault localization and timely resolution.
• Supervise and support area teams and address onsite network faults and teams queries.
• Liaise with subcontractors and vendors and evaluate their performance in designated area
• Assist the regional manager to plan periodic preventive maintenance of the equipment and the fiber plant
• Oversee inventories and proper calibration of tools and test equipment assigned to the team.
• Assist the regional manager in acceptance testing and handover/takeover activity.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders for legal and security issues and escalating to the head office if issues are not resolved in the agreed time frames
• Assist in the installation, commissioning, and integration of SDH/DWDM/MSTP/OTN/IPRAN/FTTS Equipment & other network peripherals
• Conduct Civil Works Inspection for Fiber Cable Protection, planned activities, invoice verification and vendor performance review meetings
• Ensure update Network Diagrams, as-built drawings and fiber pair utilization schema
• Should be able to provide 24/7 support and Streamline operational SOPs/WLAs.
• Keep abreast of the O&M procedures covering Transmission platforms and suggest ways for their improvement to the line management. Also guide and assist other team members in performing their tasks to enhance the overall team performance.
• Maintain the equipment spares inventory related to transmission equipment. Also ensure that a stock of critical spares/consumables is maintained at strategic locations.
• Periodic network operations report and fault trend analysis.
• Assist the regional managers/team leaders in acceptance testing and HO/TO activity.
• Manage on-site correction of performance-degraded links highlighted by the Regional Manager/team leader
• Audit of vendors teams to verify if the teams are equipped with required tools and resources as per contract.
• Perform Monthly system PM activities in time and escalate/follow in case of any critical issue at site
• Meet budgeting targets assigned by management, keep accurate track of all departmental expenses and have details of all contracts, agreements and SLAs for FOO
• Coordination and follow up with various Jazz functions for all business affecting operational, projects & design issues that is for IRU based Projects
