ABOUT WFPThe United Nations World Food Programme is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. We are the world?s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXTUnder its Country Strategic Plan 2018-2022 and the Strategic Outcome number 3 (SO3), WFP Pakistan is currently implementing diverse nutrition interventions including Stunting Prevention and Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition to support the national effort to fight against malnutrition is Pakistan. It is in this regard that the Nutrition Team is currently seeking a Nutritionist to support the nutrition programmes particularly at national level to contribute to meet the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations in the country.JOB PURPOSEThe main purpose of this task is to support coordination and to provide technical support in implementation of ongoing nutrition interventions; engagement & coordination with relevant line miniseries and departments, UN agencies, International communities and WFPs? Nutrition implementing partners. The recumbent will also facilitate in strengthening of ongoing response by the host government and positioning WFP as lead nutrition agency in the country.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)Nutritionist will be responsible for supporting the country office nutrition team in leading the Nutrition Programme interventions at the national level under supervision of Nutrition Specialist / Chief Nutrition. The Nutritionist major tasks and responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  1. Support in implementing and strengthening the quality of programme; Prevention of Stunting? Ehsaas Nashonuma through a Conditional Cash transfer Programme, Prevention and Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM, Prevention of micronutrients deficiencies through food fortification initiatives.
  2. Provide technical support to nutrition projects and activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes/projects that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
  3. Provide technical inputs for evidence generation around nutrition specific/sensitive interventions
  4. Represent WFP at national and/or provincial level strategic consultations, contribute in discussions, exchange experiences, advocate and position WFP and identify areas of potential collaboration and partnerships wherever possible.
  5. Liaise with POs nutrition team/ implementing partners to monitor ongoing nutrition projects, ensuring effective collaboration, timeliness and efficiency, and highlight potential risks to the project delivery.
  6. To support establishment of a risk management plan for successful implementation; advise on the effective application of that plan utilizing existing systems and / or help develop appropriate systems to monitor and implement improvement plans.
  7. Oversee and ensure timely implementation of activities and support in submission of reports as may be required and disseminate project reports to the relevant stakeholders.
  8. Coordinate with provincial teams for keeping track of activities under Annual Work Plans
  9. Establish and maintain operational partnerships to identify opportunities for collaborative approaches and initiatives that improve nutrition situation in the country.
  10. Build capacity of WFP staff, partners and national governments to prepare for and respond to nutrition problems.
  11. Support the monitoring and evaluation of WFP activities, provide technical analysis, and interpretation.
  12. Guide and supervise more junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them on more complex analysis and questions.
  13. Contribute/support to emergency preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations on contingency planning, risk analysis and early warning related to nutrition risks.
  14. Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.
  15. Support promotion and deployment of WFP corporate/CO initiatives and strategies
  16. Incorporate gender perspectives in all areas of work to ensure equal participation of women
