Job Description

The school bus conductor plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school. This position involves assisting students during boarding and alighting, maintaining order on the bus, and providing support to the bus driver.Key Responsibilities:

  1. Student Assistance:
  • Help students board and alight from the bus safely, especially younger children and those with special needs.
  • Ensure that students are seated properly and use seat belts, if available.
  • Assist in carrying school bags and other belongings as needed.
  1. Safety and Supervision:
  • Maintain order and discipline on the bus, ensuring students follow safety rules and behave appropriately.
  • Monitor students during the journey to prevent any disruptive behavior.
  • Assist the bus driver in maintaining a safe and secure environment on the bus.
  1. Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding any issues or concerns related to transportation.
  • Provide information to parents and guardians about the bus schedule, routes, and any changes.
  1. Emergency Assistance:
  • Assist the bus driver in managing emergency situations, such as accidents or breakdowns, by following safety protocols.
  • Ensure that all students are safely evacuated in case of an emergency.
  1. Record Keeping:
  • Maintain an attendance record of students on the bus.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the school administration or transportation supervisor.
  1. Bus Maintenance:
  • Ensure the bus is clean and tidy before and after each trip.
  • Report any maintenance issues or damages to the bus driver or maintenance team.
