From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology ? were integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.Jacobs has developed one of the leading and longest-standing geotechnical and tunnelling consultancy capabilities, with approximately 400 geotechnical and tunnelling engineers delivering practical and innovative solutions to ground-related problems.As part of our strategy for growth and to further develop our capabilities in the tunnelling sector, Jacobs are looking to hire a Tunnelling Engineer.Reporting to the Senior Tunnelling Engineer and Tunnel Regional Lead you will be a key resource in project and work package delivery and have the ability to work with minimal supervision for a range of internal and external clients. Our tunnels team focusses on a range of small to large scale projects from pipejack to large diameter tunnels, utilising techniques from TBM tunnelling to Drill and Blast Methods. Work undertaken can be structural and/or geotechnical in nature.Sector Experience ? The candidate will have demonstrable experience in the design of work packages in the tunnelling sector. Ideally this should cover a wide range of sectors with experience in several or all the following areas: Metro, Highway, Heavy Rail, Utility and Conveyance. Experience in hard rock tunnelling is highly desirable.Here?s What You?ll Need:

• At least 4 years? experience in tunnel design
• Have experience preparing designs and drawings
• Be able to write technical reports
• Demonstrable experience in the design of work packages in the tunnelling sector. Ideally this should cover a wide range of sectors with experience in several or all of the following areas: Metro, Highway, Heavy Rail, Utility and Conveyance.
• Demonstrable expertise in segmental and SCL lining design
• Experience in hard rock tunnelling is highly desirable
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
• MICE Chartered Engineer status
• A sound academic knowledge of civil/tunnel engineering
• Knowledge of relevant European codes and standards
• Strong communication skills with fluency in verbal and written English
• Computer literate in relevant discipline software such as; Plaxis, FLAC, MIDAS and SAP.
• Team player but with an ability to work independently and manage small teams as required
• Planning & organisational skills
