JOB PURPOSEThe DTV Construction and Construction Estimating Organisation provides industry leading Construction Management and Construction Estimating support for all bidding activity, project execution, and product development engineering for the MEET region. The DTV Senior Construction Manager is accountable for leadership and development of the DTV Regional Construction Management organization, to ensure that the overall objectives set by Senior Management, specific Construction group objectives and EH&S objectives are met. This includes planning and development of resources and construction engineering capabilities, delivering industry leading construction safety performance, fostering productive coordination across regions, development and implementation of key work processes and cost improvement strategies, construction execution oversight, and delivery of competitive construction cost estimates and winning construction strategies. The incumbent retains close ties to external resources and organizations to ensure functional excellence within construction management.2. DIMENSIONS

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESDirect and Lead the MEET Construction teams to achieve excellence in Construction performance, against KPI?s related to EHS, Cost, Schedule and Quality.Manage the recruitment, training and career development of resources in Construction Engineering Group to ensure that projects, proposals and development work can be resourced with the necessary skills and experience to ensure flawless executionAssess the Work Process for DTV Construction Engineering and work with the Global and Regional Functional Management to ensure that Work Processes, Procedures and Standards are available, applied consistently and followed in a disciplined manner.Formulate and implement strategies for executing Construction work in new and existing territories to support GEM?s strategic objectives and marketsLead and direct the MEET Construction Group in the accurate assessment of safety, execution, resourcing and financial and schedule performance to ensure timely reporting to Executive ManagementTake lead during Proposal and Project stage to ensure constructability is built into the design of each plant, including the design team considering how the construction will be realized in the field.Support and drive improvements in the organisation across the functions to ensure ongoing improvements in EH&S and Engineering excellenceEngage with external industry bodies as appropriate in order to obtain latest best practices for construction strategies and benchmarks for construction costs Approx % Time 30% 15% 15% 10% 10% 10% 5% 5%4. ORGANISATION STRUCTUREThe MEET Senior Construction Manager reports to the Director of Projects, MEET.All the Construction Field Personnel report directly to the DTV Senior Construction Manager. The Construction EHS Manager also reports to the DTV Senior Construction Manager5. SUPERVISIONThe DTV Senior Construction Manager directly supervises the Regional Home Office Construction Superintendents / Managers and the Construction Estimating Manager and the Construction EH&S Manager. You will be accountable for all facets e.g. recruiting, training, goal setting, coaching, counselling for all employees within the Construction Engineering and Construction Estimating organisations some of which are local and a significant number are remote.6. ASSIGNMENT AND REVIEW OF WORKThe DTV Senior Construction Manager is expected to be able to demonstrate a high level of autonomy and to be able to set the necessary strategies, objectives and select the appropriate resources to achieve the objectives and goals.7. DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITYThe DTV Senior Construction Manager is expected to be an experienced manager able to operate independently and able to take decisions where appropriate and to offer guidance without reference to higher Management. You are expected to take decisions regarding safety, management, budget, schedule, strategies and quality without reference to higher Management. Levels of financial decision making are governed by the Corporate Approval limits.8. CONTACT WITH OTHERSThe DTV Senior Construction Manager must have the highest levels of communication skills both within and outside Air Products. He must be able to inspire confidence and leadership ability through communication at all levels. You have contacts at Management and Executive level within Air Products and regularly with the Engineering Leadership Team, Project Teams, Procurement Teams and each Construction Site You will be required to build relationships and instil confidence with organisations outside Air Products including: - Client?s Senior Management - Contractor?s Executive and Senior Management - External National Bodies and Organisations10. MOST CHALLENGING PART OF JOBTo create a high performing, confident and diverse Construction Management team and then to provide the leadership and direction to successfully set up and execute the Construction phase of complex projects throughout the region often in new territories which meet Air Product?s Corporate Objectives for budget and schedule performance that are seen by external organisations as extremely demanding and aggressive. To achieve the expected standard of safety in areas with a low safety culture, by imposing AP?s standards and culture of Safety on Construction Contractors to achieve this wherever Air Products may be working.
