Vacancy Details11999 - Senior Manager - Risk and ComplianceLocation:UAE - Dubai About the Role This role works closely with the GEMS leadership team to:Build and manage the risk management function within GEMS, including all related processes, controls, and services.Build and manage the compliance function within GEMS, including all related processes, controls, and services to ensure that GEMS as a group is conducting its business in full compliance with all national and international laws and regulations that pertain to GEMS, material contractual obligations, as well as internal policies, procedures, and standards.The role involves risk assessment and analysis, risk mitigation strategy, planning, mitigation development and implementation, compliance oversight, and advising key stakeholders (Board, management, and employees) on risk management.In addition, this position involves monitoring and reporting the results of the compliance/ethics efforts of the company and providing guidance for the Board and Senior Management Team on matters relating to compliance to ensure the achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program.Effective partnership and teamwork with corporate departments at GEMS School Support Centre, Schools, and other group companies? heads is a key success factor.Key Accountabilities:BusinessRisk ManagementManage the implementation of all aspects of the risk function, including implementation of processes, tools, and systems to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor, and report risksRisk assessment by identifying, describing, and estimating the risks affecting the businessRisk evaluation by comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organisation such as costs, legal requirements, and environmental factors, and evaluating the organisation?s previous handling of risksEstablishing and quantifying the organisation?s ?risk appetite?, i.e. the level of risk they are prepared to acceptRisk reporting in an appropriate way for different audiences, for example, to the boards of directors so they understand the most significant risks, to business heads to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the business, and to individuals to understand their accountability for individual risksProviding support, education, and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.ComplianceReview and assess existing relevant policies, regulations, and measures to assess the current status of compliance.Assess current compliance processes to ensure they are performed effectively and efficiently across the groupProvide timely feedback on necessary changes to promote a strong compliance function in the groupRespond to regulatory requests if and when deemed necessary* Report to senior management on a quarterly basis on the compliance functionAbout Your Benefits An attractive remuneration package is on offer to the successful candidate including tax-free salary, medical cover, tuition fee concessions, annual leave, and end of service benefits.
