Job Description

Section Head, Engineering will lead the engineering section to take ownership of plant assets to ensure that they are maintained and operated within their design parameters, and identify and implement betterment programs to increase plant reliability, availability, efficiency and down time. The candidate should be highly motivated, analytical and should possess excellent interpersonal skills. Candidates should be commercially aware, self-motivated, and capable of operating with the minimum of guidance and can communicate effectively at all levels of the business. Operating within a support group the candidate must be fully committed and flexible to meet the business requirements.

  • Take the lead and direct the Engineering team on resolution of all engineering issues throughÿallocation of resources from within the team or from external expert organisations as required
  • Direct the management of planning, specification and implementation of the activities duringÿnormal operation, and take the lead in planning coordination for outage management, andÿother projects as may be required to ensure continued reliable operation within agreed KPIs.ÿSupport the Maintenance Manager in the development and delivery of the station?sÿEngineering and Maintenance business plan
  • Provide input to the management team in developing appropriate engineering strategies forÿplant betterment projects, and improving the way O&M is undertaken with specific emphasisÿon how engineering can provide support to drive those strategies
  • Manage and organise a team of technical engineers who will be required to work with otherÿsections and departments to ensure that the plant is operated and maintained in a safe andÿeffective manner
  • Undertake and evaluate risk against technical issues, and contribute to the resolution with dueÿregard to process safety and to personnel safety
  • Ensure that Plant Modifications are correctly engineered and the site/company procedures areÿfollowed, and undertake assessments as a key member of the Plant Modification Panel
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering (either in Mechanical, Electrical,ÿInstrumentation) or equivalent
  • 10 - 15 years in power plant operations.
  • broad understanding of powerÿstation engineering, maintenance, and operations. Andÿdetailed knowledge of current Legislation, currentÿEngineering Standards, they should also be proficientÿin finance and procurement procedures andÿdocumentation management systems.
