? The school Medical Officer is in-charge of the overall health and well-being of school students & staff.? Provides first- line medical assistance to students & staff in the form of First ? Aid and Emergency care, in association with the school nurse(s).? Primary assessment and treatment of minor illness and injuries that occur within the school premises.? Plans and conducts Medical Examination on students as per school health record at school entry and school leaving.? Records all the findings of medical examination in School Health Record of each student.? Writes a report of medical examination to inform parents regarding health status of their ward? Refers students with abnormal findings to DHA Health Centre / Clinics or to their family physicians for further investigation and management.? Writes standing order of drugs / treatments, which can be administered to the students by licensed School Health Nurse in absence of the Medical Officer.? Supervises the DHA approved Immunization session conducted in the school and manages any adverse reactions happening during such a session.? Advises the parents to keep their wards at home during the communicable period of that particular disease.? Participates in planning and conducting Health education activities in the school ? for students and staff.? To deliver opportunistic health promotion as appropriate.? Supervises filling, maintaining and sending of records and reports to the DHA.? To identify, implement and evaluate individual health care plans for students with chronic medical conditions (SEND).? To help to identify, create and evaluate all medical and student wellbeing policies, communicating with all staff involved. (Policies related to Medical Conditions, Drug use , referral, emergency protocol, etc).? To organise and deliver appropriate training for newly appointed medical staff.? Contributes to the process of the ordering and allocation of equipment and materials in relation to medical centre requirements.? Maintains effective communication with other staff members regarding health & safety of students. Also, communicates with parents/carers regarding events/ issues relating to their children.
