Job Description

Internet sales representatives have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

  • Selling products online by assisting customers with questions about products or services, providing information about product features, helping to place orders, and processing payments
  • Updating product listings and inventory levels to ensure that customers have access to accurate information about available items
  • Promoting company products and services via social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Providing customer service by answering questions about products and services, processing orders, and providing order status updates
  • Compiling reports about website activity, such as number of visitors, most popular products, or conversion rates from browsing to purchase
  • Meeting with clients to discuss their needs and recommend solutions that involve the company?s products or services
  • Identifying potential clients by contacting businesses to determine their needs and interests in order to make sales pitches
  • Identifying potential clients via cold calling to introduce products or services and determine their interest in purchasing items
Working with the accounting department to process payments, track outstanding balances, and reconcile accountsInternet sales representatives work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.They are expected to make a high volume of sales calls, often to customers who are not expecting the call. The job can be stressful, and representatives may work long hours, including evenings and weekends. Some companies offer flexible schedules, which may allow representatives to work from home.
