Following the lead of the great jurist Abderrazak Sanhouri, our challenge is to provide expertise in civil and common law including the principles of Islamic law, to produce a truly unique offer that bridges the gap between civil law and common law.Main purpose of the role:A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented Commissioning Editor that will come to generate Middle East content for the Regulatory Compliance platform that will be launched in the Middle East region in 2022!Main responsibilities will include:* Research and recruit suitably qualified authors for individual modules and jurisdictions in the Lexis Middle East Regulatory Compliance platform. * Negotiate author fees, keep to commissioning budget and administer payments. * Undertake initial research and draw up structures for compliance modules in particular jurisdictions for discussion and agreement with authors. * Having received information on applicable legal changes from the Lexis Middle East editorial team ? identify potential modules requiring author change. * Drawing up author briefs and explaining editorial requirements and policies to authors. * Review and check new and updated material supplied by authors ? ensuring it matches house style and technical requirements. * Review and sign off new legal material supplied by Legal Updates Legal editors. * Manage supply of author material and updates to technical editors and check updates, including ensuring the resolution of technical issues. * As and when required provide editorial support to other Lexis Middle East editors including reviewing Arabic legal bulletins and identifying key changesKey skills required:* Law or journalism degree. * Minimum 2 years of experience whether as a Compliance Officer (desirable), a journalist or in a law firm. * Native or Proficient Arabic, both verbal and written (desirable). * Possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills to simplify legal professional language. * Ability to prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met and stakeholder expectations are managed. * Good understanding of legal issues, procedures and content types (desirable). * Excellent academic qualifications, able to perform legal research (desirable). * Self-motivated and team player.
