Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Main responsibility is to purchase Maritime Stores & Provisions for assigned vessels, from both local and overseas suppliers, manufacturers & vendors. Primary duties include but are not limited to:
  • Perform all related purchasing functions, such as requesting for quotations, evaluating offers, issuing purchase orders and following up with delivery.
  • Research for the requested products both locally and overseas depending on calling ports, review quality, identify the most appropriate suppliers, determine availability, perform comparisons and negotiate pricing, establish delivery patterns & timelines.
  • Work closely with vessels and management to monitor and improve the supply chain purchasing process, specifications and requirements.
  • Evaluate, set up and maintain store and inventory inflow and outflow record and plan timely replacements of the spare and ware parts for the production.
  • Review and process purchase orders.
  • Maintain record of orders placed and received and evaluate quality to be as per ordered requirement.
  • Negotiate price and contracts with suppliers to close deals with optimal terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance, develop responsive supplier base and maintain good relationship with supplier.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain policies and procedures used in purchasing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
