Job Description

Amazon is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the planning and execution of complex projects within our existing fulfillment centers in MENA. The projects scope are mainly related to automation and storage systems. Successful candidates will be natural self-starter who has Project Management experience in live warehousing environment, combined with a strong technical problem solving ability.The role will understand all aspects of an Amazon Fulfillment Center while focusing on its automation technologies (conveyance, sortation) and storage solutions. This individual will be responsible for designing and delivering state-of-the-art material handling, storage systems and innovations as well as managing internal teams and vendor relations in order to successfully deliver optimization projects within Amazons Fulfillment Centers. • End-to-end ownership for large-scale engineering projects within live facilities
• Lead critical path items, dive deep on technical details and provide innovative solutions to resolve issues
• Lead projects with cross functional teams such as Operations, change, safety, maintenance, IT, software, finance...
• Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams and leadership.
• Manage vendors team on-site during execution, enforcing highest safety standards and minimum Operational disruptions.
• Create, submit and track the relevant CAPEX documentation to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and best overall value.
• Lead technical design reviews and propose design solutions for material handling and storage solutions that meet both business needs and global design standards

A day in the lifeYou will work on delivery of retrofit projects for our Fulfillment Centers in MENA, with a primary focus in UAE. The pre-execution (scoping, engineering and procurement) phases of the project can be done mainly from a Amazon office or from home.The execution phase vary in length and will require you to be traveling for a high proportion of the week to the site where the retrofit works are ongoing.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Proven technical leadership and project management experience in development and implementation of large scale and complex engineering projects within live warehouses
• Experience of leading internal teams and management of vendor relations
• Fluency in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong knowledge about automated material handling systems and storage solutions
• Experience with pre-execution and execution phases of projects
• Comprehensive understanding of (intra)logistic operations as well as maintenance processes
• Fluency in Arabic is beneficial
