? planning and organising production schedules? assessing project and resource requirements? estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers? ensuring that health and safety regulations are met? determining quality control standards? overseeing production processes? re-negotiating timescales or schedules as necessary? selecting, ordering and purchasing materials? organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment? liaising with buyers and marketing and sales staff? supervising the work of junior staff? organising relevant training sessions? Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements? Estimate costs and prepare budgets? Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines? Monitor production to resolve issues? Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel (quality inspectors, workers etc.)? Determine the amount of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.)? Approve maintenance work, purchasing of equipment etc.? Ensure output meets quality standards? Enforce health and safety precautions? Report to upper management You'll be involved in the pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (control and supervision) stage. A large part of the job is dealing with people management.You may also be involved with product design and purchasing. In some larger firms, planners, controllers and production engineers and supervisors will assist you. The role may be integrated with other functions, such as marketing, sales, and finance.
