In collaboration with facility Administration, allocatesdepartment resources in an efficient and economic manner to ensure patient safetyand satisfaction. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals,consultant, to develop, support and coordinate care, and related administrativefunctions.Responsibilities? Develops, maintains, and implementsnursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursingpractice, facility philosophy, and operational policies.? Communicates and interprets policiesand procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices andimplementation.? Participates in daily or weekly nursingmanagement team meetings to discuss department status, census changes,personnel, or patients complaints or concerns.? Evaluates the work performance ofdepartment nursing personnel.? Implementsdisciplinary measures according to operational policies.? Ensures delivery of compassionatequality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services andstaff coverage on unit.? Demonstrates knowledge of andapplication of Key Clinical Quality Indicators, and proactively monitorsand implements systems to achieve and/or surpass thresholds.? Exercises overall supervision of patient sassessments and care plans.? Oversees and directly involves in competencytesting, and all related competency records and follow up.? Reviews 24-hour report from every unitassigned in the department daily to monitor and ensure timely, effectiveresponses to significant changes in condition, transfers, discharges, useof restraints, unexplained injuries, falls, behavioral episodes, andmedication errors.? Oversees nursing schedules to assurethey meet patients needs and regulatory and budgetary standards.? Performs rounds to observe care and tointerview staff, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.? Establishes, implements, and monitors theinfection control policies and procedures designed to provide a safe,sanitary, and comfortable environment designed to prevent the devilmentand transmission of disease and infection.? Prepares or reviews infection controlsurveillance reports to identify trends and to develop effective actionsto control and prevent infections.? Helps nursing leadership to preparestaff for inspection surveys, instructing staff on matters of conduct anddisclosure, being interviewed by inspectors, immediate corrections ofproblems noted by surveyors, etc. Reviews and reinforces importantstandards previously cited.? Promotes customer service and hospitalityand responds to and adequately resolves complaints or concerns from patientsor families about nursing services.? Promotes compliance with accidentprevention, reporting non compliances, safety rules, and safe workpractices to prevent employee injury and illness.? Assures staff is trained in fire anddisaster and other emergency procedures and evaluates performance duringdrills.
