Job Description

Legal CounselOverview:BWP are presently supporting a semi-government organisation in Dubai who have an opening for a Legal Counsel. The selected individual will be responsible with supporting?the General Legal Counsel in providing legal advisory in the best interest of the organisation ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in order to minimize the organizations exposure to legal risks, through support to management and the various organisations functions.Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in contract drafting and negotiations in respect of the procurement transactions, agreements with clients and stakeholders
  • Oversee legal and contractual matters related to current and future contracts in respect to design and development of the network. Provide advice on tender, claims, extension of time, variations, entitlements etc.
  • Drafting and negotiation of rail haulage, partnership and other commercial contracts
  • Negotiation of operation and maintenance agreements
  • Support in managing the relationship and negotiation between the organisation and third parties/stakeholders
  • Provide effective legal advisory services and continuous support on any arising issues that may impact the day-to-day operations within the various functions residing within the organisation, suitable to their respective diverse activities, in order to ensure timely resolution of any outstanding legal matters
  • Reviewing consultancy contracts, employment contracts, loan agreements, joint ventures, MOUs, NDAs and regulatory matters. Ensuring contractual obligations adhere with the UAE laws and regulations and in line with the organisations policies in order to reduce the companys liability and protect its interest
  • Review remedies and resource actions against contractors for breaches of a material nature that may impact the organisation and provide legal advice where applicable
  • Provide assistance to the organisations other business units on issues pertinent to job function; participate in performing routine checks and inspections to ensure the highest safety and quality standards are being maintained if required
  • Take care of health, safety and environmental impact both personally, and for others who may be affected in the workplace. Cooperate with the company and co-workers to help everyone meet their legal and company requirements
  • Adapt to, and participate in, any programs/changes in the organisation including but not limited to strategic initiatives, operational initiatives and performance uplift tasks; conduct any relevant work that may result from these changes as an integral part of this job description and employment contract
  • Help support the organization in extraordinary events such as claims by contractors, dispute reviews and participation in arbitration
Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in relevant field Preferable:
  • Member of Legal professional bodies Preferable:
  • 5+years of experience in a law related position with substantial expertise inconstruction law and practice, disputes resolution, contract formulation and negotiation and tendering processes.
  • High level of skill in contracts administration in a commercial/ corporate/ projects setting.
