Supervises and controls all activities of Gas, Oil, and water, Analytical Laboratories.
Performs special analyses and studies required for effective operational control, evaluation of suitability of chemicals used in the plant, products quality control, equipment performanceÿand corrosion control.
Coordinates with Senior Operations and Production Planning staff, Process and Inspection Engineers for analysis schedules for quality control, test runs, shutdown, startup, corrosion control and technical surveys.
Reviews daily lab. test results of the concerned labs for any abnormalities.
WORK PERFORMEDÿ2.1.ÿSupervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Laboratory. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by Management for the position.ÿ2.2.ÿMonitors and reviews the day-to-day Laboratory activities of sampling and analysis of Gases, JIGPC Utilities, Oil and water, Liquid petroleum receiving and Gas products employing gas chromatorgaphy, Spectrophotometric and wet Chemistry techniques and other routine/non routine tests carried out for plant control, corrosion control and quality control.ÿ2.3.ÿReviews and approves daily and monthly test reports.ÿ2.4.ÿCarries special gas Chromatography and spectrophotometry (ICP, IC, CFA, TOC, TBC, I.R Visible, UV & AA) analysisÿwhich involves advanced techniques, and the use of state-of?the-art computerized analytical instruments.ÿ2.5.ÿInstalls new equipment, trains the Laboratory personnel on the operation of new analytical methods and organizes training programmes for Laboratory personnel.ÿ2.6.ÿDirects and supervises VR, ULSD. HSHFO, oil, Gas and Chemicals evaluation studies, and coordinates with Production Planning for marketing requirement of Granulated Cooke. Prepares technical reports on studies carried out in the Laboratory..ÿWORK PERFORMEDÿ(Contd......)ÿ2.7.ÿEnsures the availability of chemicals, equipment, glassware and spares for the Laboratory. Controls the inventory of such items and arranges timely replenishment.ÿ2.8.ÿAnswers queries and provides information and advice of a technical nature to management.ÿ2.9.ÿEnsures implementation of Health, Safety & Environment regulations. Advises Laboratory staff on the hazardous nature and properties of the chemicals and the precautions necessary to ensure their safe use.ÿ2.10.ÿInvolves in the application and modification of Laboratory InformationManagement System / SAP for the effective transmission of Lab. results, preparation of quality certificates & other relevant data for end users.ÿ2.11.ÿUses SAP software program for Lab equipment maintenance requirements, inventory control of Lab. Consumables and preparation of purchase requisitions.
Maintains technical library in the laboratory. Updates with latest methodsÿand techniques.
Evaluates bids for technical acceptability of Lab. equipment, glassware andÿchemicals.
Monitors all activities associated with Granulated Cook loading vessels.
Prepares purchase requisitions for Lab.equipment and materials and Lab.equipment maintenance requests.
Assists Laboratory Manager in the preparation of capital and operatingbudgets for the Section.
Assists in the training of developees and other subordinates, etc...
Acts for Senior Lab. Chemist during his absence.
Carries out other similar or related duties, as assigned. Includes ensuring theapplication of good housekeeping practices in the Laboratory andÿmaintenance of all related files and records.
