Job Description

The Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) is a new world-class design university established 2018 in the Dubai Design District (d3).DIDI is currently seeking a Fab Lab Technician to be responsible and accountable for the smooth running of DIDI?s Fab Lab and to ensure it?s a healthy and safe environment for students.Successful candidates will be required to have hands on experience on digital fabrication equipment and the related 2D/3D modelling software to operate 3D printers, laser cutters and milling machines. Some experience on manually operated machines for woodworking and other prototyping tools is necessary. All this with a safety-conscious and student-centered service mindset.Principle accountabilities

  • Implementation of all Laboratory Health and Safety procedures.
  • Supervising building maintenance, cleaning and security teams.
  • Assist in machinery maintenance, servicing, cleaning and calibration.
  • Arranging consumables for machinery operations and maintenance.
  • Identify and attend continued professional development training.
?Workshop Delivery and Student Engagement
  • Sourcing and procuring material requirements.
  • Assist in the delivering and supervision of workshops.
  • Assisting students with their design challenges, requirements and projects.
  • Promoting DIDI at industry events (design days, design week?)
  • Assist in meeting interested visitors to DIDI and in5 Design and showing them Lab and the Facilities.
