We are looking for an ENERGY TRADING METEOROLOGIST with programming experience who can help our team with mining data from existing data sources, build predictions utilizing raw data and build tools that will form the bridge between our predictive algorithms and weather data. This is a great opportunity for a professional to work together with the trading and analytics teams and have his/her impact on the company?s profits. You do not need to have experience in working in a trading firm but experience in working with raw weather data and a medium level of programming skills are required.The role is a great opportunity for someone who is highly competent, ambitious, and looking to build a profitable business from scratch with a great deal of responsibility. Responsibilities

• Use sophisticated computer systems to collate the flow of data from satellite images, radar, remote sensors and weather stations all over the world
• Measure factors such as air pressure, temperature and humidity at various atmospheric levels
• Analyse and present this information to relevant teams in the form of weather briefings
• Develop and improve numerical and computer models to predict atmospheric processes and improve the accuracy of forecasts
• Monitor climate variability and change
• Research seasonal forecasting, ocean forecasting and climate prediction
• Effectively communicate views and findings to traders, other analysts, and relevant stakeholders.
• Working with departments within the company (Trading, Tech) to facilitate business needs
• Being up to date about leading-edge developments, analytical techniques, technologies, and tools in advanced analytics
• Upholding and living cultural values in your routine job

Requirements

• At least a Bachelors degree in meteorology, physics, geoscience, or other relevant area
• 2-5 years of relevant experience
• A curious mind with proven ability in math and physics
• Analytical mind and the ability to evaluate complex material
• Ability to explain complex issues to people who may not have technical knowledge
• Intermediate level of programming skills
• Good problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy with strong numerical, logical reasoning and analytical skills
• A team-orientated approach to work
• Enthusiasm and a genuine interest in meteorology and the environment
