The purpose of the role Director Commercial Legal is to form an instrumental part of the CL team and act as SVP Legal?s Deputy with scope, oversight and vision on and over all areas. The Director Commercial Legal shall manage the other CL team members directly reporting to the Director, and shall have primary responsibility for certain areas including IT. This includes drafting, negotiating and managing the agreements and related documentation.Main responsibilities for this role include:- Contribute to defining and delivering on CL strategic direction with local and international parties and work within systems, policies and procedures to achieve these goals;- Negotiate, draft, manage and service contracts to protect Expo 2020 commercial interests and reputation;- Safeguard the interests and reputation of Expo 2020 at all times in interactions with external stakeholders;- Negotiate and draft contracts and documentation with both internal and external stakeholders as required to meet the needs of Expo 2020 and for which CL is responsible;- Support SVP Legal to discuss and organize department responsibilities, including annual cycles, budgeting, manpower planning, etc.;- Act as Deputy to SVP Legal as required, with scope, oversight and vision on and over all CD areas and with authority to act as necessary in the absence of the SVP Legal;- Assist the SVP Legal, as requested, with contracts and related documentation for ticketing, licensing, retail, food and beverage, broadcasting, concessionaires, hospitality. programming, partnership and other areas of responsibility.- Identify and evaluate potential issues and risk factors regarding contractual positions, advise on relative and relevant risk positions and offer advice thereon to departments of responsibility to ensure and enhance mitigating alternatives;- Research complex legal issues, precedent, structures and language for areas of responsibility;?- Lead a team of attorneys responsibly and proficiently, providing effective line management to direct reports;- Set objectives and evaluate performance of individual direct reports and actively manage key personnel issues;- Ensure that all staff acquire the required skills and knowledge through appropriate learning and development programs;- Embed a culture and vision of Expo 2020 by role-modelling organizational behaviors through performance management, feedback and coaching.
