As appointed designated person ashore (DPA), with scope of ISM Code, to have direct access to the highest level of management for assigned vessels. As DPA to monitor as a minimum the following for assigned vessels: ?a)??????Communication and implementation of the safety and environmental protection policy;b)??????Evaluation and review of the effectiveness of the safety management system;c)??????Reporting and analysis of non-conformities, accidents and hazardous occurrences;d)??????Maintain ISM certification and organizing and monitoring of internal audits;e)??????Appropriate revisions to the SMS; andf)???????Ensuring that adequate resources and shore based support is provided?Every Company should designate a person or persons ashore in accordance with IMO MSC-C.7/Circ.5. He should:1.??????Ensure the safe operation of each ship2.??????Provide a link between the Company and those on board3.??????He has direct access to the highest level of management4.??????He has responsibility and authority for monitoring the Safety and Pollution prevention aspects of the operation of each ship5.??????He has responsibility and authority for ensuring that adequate resources and shore based support are applied as required?The Designated Person Ashore represents the link between the Company ashore and the ships. He has direct access to the highest level of management.?
