Job Description

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for managing and optimizing the daily operations of the organization in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry. The COO will play a critical role in overseeing the companys operational functions, ensuring safety compliance, implementing best practices, and driving operational excellence. This position requires strong leadership and strategic thinking to optimize production, reduce costs, improve safety standards, and increase overall efficiency.Key Responsibilities:Operational Leadership and Strategy:

• Develop and implement operational strategies to meet the company?s goals for production, safety, and efficiency.
• Align operational practices with overall business objectives and ensure that operations are carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Lead and mentor operational teams across various functions, including production, maintenance, logistics, and safety.

Operational Efficiency and Process Optimization:

• Continuously assess and improve operational processes to maximize productivity, minimize waste, and reduce costs.
• Implement lean practices and process improvement initiatives to streamline operations and increase profitability.
• Ensure that operational procedures and systems are optimized for both short-term and long-term growth.

Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance (HSE):

• Ensure all operations comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations specific to the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
• Oversee the development and execution of safety programs, emergency response plans, and risk management strategies.
• Promote a culture of safety across all operations, ensuring adherence to all internal and external safety standards.

Project Management and Execution:

• Lead and oversee key projects related to plant operations, production expansions, or facility upgrades, ensuring timely completion within budget and to specification.
• Provide leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring clear communication and proper resource allocation.
• Monitor progress, resolve challenges, and provide ongoing reporting to senior management on project status.

Financial Oversight:

• Manage the operational budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and within budget constraints.
• Monitor and control costs, ensuring the efficient use of resources across all departments.
• Collaborate with the finance department to provide input on financial forecasting and achieve financial goals.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

• Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor operational performance, ensuring that targets are met or exceeded.
• Regularly review operational data and provide reports to the CEO and board of directors on the company?s performance, identifying areas for improvement.
• Take corrective actions when necessary to address performance issues or challenges.

Risk Management and Contingency Planning:

• Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate risks associated with operations, including those related to supply chain, equipment failure, and environmental factors.
• Prepare and implement contingency plans to ensure operational continuity in case of emergencies or disruptions.
• 8. Collaboration with Senior Management:
• Work closely with the CEO and other members of the senior leadership team to define company goals and implement operational strategies that align with the overall corporate vision.
• Provide strategic input into the company?s overall business strategy, focusing on enhancing operational capabilities and maximizing performance.

Team Development and Talent Management:

• Lead, motivate, and develop the operations team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Implement training and development programs to enhance the capabilities of employees across operational functions.
• Ensure effective succession planning and talent development to support organizational growth and operational continuity.

Stakeholder and Client Management:

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure that customer requirements are met or exceeded through the delivery of high-quality products and services.
• Manage and resolve any operational issues that impact client satisfaction or business relationships.
